The Perfect Cairns Hens Party Starts Here

Steamy in the Tropics

Think palm trees, mountains, mangoes and Sex on the Beach (the cocktail that is!).

Cairns is a tropical holiday destination with a laid-back vibe and bikini weather all year round. The thriving backpacker party scene makes day-drinking a perfectly acceptable pastime, but if adventure is more your style, you’ll find plenty to do where the rainforest meets the reef, from snorkelling and sky diving to jungle swings. Tropical North Queensland also knows how to embrace the finer things in life, so you’ll find day spas, swimming pools and swim up bars to indulge all your hedonistic desires. And if it’s a social stay you’re after, head to the famed ‘Lagoon’ - a free public swimming pool on the Cairns Esplanade that attracts fellow sun-seekers from all over the globe.

Why have your Hens in Cairns

Boasting both luxury resorts and a colourful backpacker bar scene, Cairns offers the best of both worlds for an exciting hens party experience. You’ll feel like you’re a world away from any wedding worries as you relax into the slower pace of life in the tropics. Here you can sip coconuts fresh from the tree and pick mangoes in the wild, while relaxed dress codes mean you’re always ready to head straight from the beach to the nearest bar.

As the gateway to the Daintree Rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is surrounded by idyllic tropical islands and sand cays within a short boat ride of the wharf. Venture into the mountains to discover the ancient rainforests of the Wet Tropics and stunning waterfalls, or spot iconic wildlife living in its natural habitat like the prehistoric Southern Cassowary, the brilliant blue Ulysses Butterfly and of course - crocodiles!

Top Tips and Ideas

After exploring everything Cairns has to offer (ask your House of Hens Party Planner for their top tips), venture to the Northern Beaches to discover the seaside suburbs of Palm Cove, Trinity Beach and Yorkeys Knob, where you’ll find restaurants, bars, cafes and million dollar views.

Further north lies the popular seaside village of Port Douglas. Hire a car to explore the stunning scenic drive from Cairns, and keep an eye out for the stacked stone structures (ironically known as ‘cairns’) just after Ellis Beach.

Beyond Port Douglas you’ll find Mossman, home to untouched rainforests and the Mossman Gorge, while a short vehicle ferry ride over the Daintree River will take you to Cape Tribulation, and a scene reminiscent of Jurassic Park.

This remote jungle township is a true off-grid experience, with no mains power supply and little to no mobile service, so if you’re looking for a truly relaxing getaway, this is it! You’ll still find plenty of mod cons (and cocktails) at the local backpacker bar, restaurants and resorts.

Travelling west from Cairns, go chasing waterfalls along the aptly named Waterfall Circuit on your way to the Atherton Tablelands. Immersed in the food bowl of the Far North, you’ll find local cheese, chocolate and coffee tastings, food tours and a striking landscape that enjoys a slightly cooler climate than Cairns.

Just two hours south of Cairns lies Mission Beach, a beautiful beachy township surrounded by tropical islands and ancient rainforest. Here you can swim, snorkel, skydive, or simply soak up the sights from the sand.

Baby When the Lights Go Out

Cairns certainly knows how to party and you can find the local bars and clubs jumping seven nights a week. The CBD’s hotspots are within walking distance of each other, making Cairns the perfect destination for a bachelorette bar crawl.

Best known for its backpacker party scene and rowdy mainstays like Gilligans and The Woolshed, Cairns is also home to a blossoming scene of boutique bars and breweries (and coffee shops for the morning after). You’ll find live music at a diverse mix of venues, all-night entertainment at the Casino, and late night dining along the Esplanade. If it’s a quiet night you’re seeking, check out the local ten-pin bowling alley, see a show at one of the local theatres, or catch a movie at the cinema. The warm weather also lends itself to outdoor night-time activities, so you might be lucky enough to catch a full moon yoga class or stand-up paddle boarding under the stars.
