The Gold Coast has all the ingredients for a seriously good hens weekend: sunshine, beaches, rooftop cocktails, beautiful restaurants and enough nightlife to keep even your most wildest bridesmaid entertained.
From sipping champagne on the Broadwater to dancing your way through Surfers Paradise, here’s how to give your Hen the Gold Coast send-off she deserves.
Planning a Gold Coast hens party sounds like a whole lot of fun, until you realise just how many fabulous options there are to choose from. Beach clubs or boat cruises? Bottomless brunch or cocktails? Broadbeach or Burleigh? Suddenly, “spoilt for choice” starts feeling like a full-time job.
But here’s the beauty of the Gold Coast: you don’t need to plan the perfect hens party. You just need to plan one that feels perfectly her. Whether your bride is all about bubbles on the Broadwater, long lunches in the sunshine or dancing until her heels come off, the Gold Coast makes it ridiculously easy to build a celebration around the girl you’re actually there for.
There’s a reason hens groups keep flocking to the Gold Coast, and it’s not just the golden beaches and year-round sunshine.
Everything is right at your fingertips. Base the girls in Broadbeach or Surfers Paradise and you’ve got fabulous restaurants, cocktail bars and buzzing nightlife practically on your doorstep. Feeling a little delicate the next morning? Burleigh Heads is just down the road for beach swims, brunch and a much-needed coffee in the sunshine. And if the bride fancies swapping the coastline for something a little more sophisticated, the wineries and rolling hills of Tamborine Mountain are an easy day trip away.
Better still, with Brisbane to the north and Byron Bay to the south, it’s an easy meeting point for girls coming from different directions.
Start with one very important question: what does your bride actually love? Forget what looked good on Instagram or what the last hens party did, this weekend is about her.
If she’s outdoorsy, think jet skiing or surf lessons. If she loves a laugh, a life drawing class or erotic pottery might be more her speed. And if her perfect day involves sunshine, good food and absolutely no rushing, a beach picnic with grazing platters could be the winner.
Once you know what makes your bride tick, the rest becomes much easier. Pick the vibe, choose the hero activity and build the weekend around it.
On the water. A boat cruise through the Broadwater is one of the most popular Gold Coast hens activities and a favourite amongst our groups. Three hours on the water with fruit platters, inflatables, music and cute photo opportunities. It suits every personality in the group because the energy is flexible and the mimosas are optional.
Creative workshops. Cocktail-making classes, flower crown workshops or check out the cheekier options like life drawing and erotic pottery. Not only do they give the group something creative to do but you make memories that you get to take home and remember forever.
A night out. The lively strips of Gold Coast are built for this and your bride is guaranteed to have the time of her life. Nightlife in Broadbeach is a favourite with endless options of VIP tables, party buses cruising down the Glitter Strip ties the whole night together without anyone navigating ride shares at 1am. But a night out doesn't have to mean just clubs. The options of theatre shows, curated dinners and bars with karaoke can be found everywhere.
Sessions for chilling. Also remember that not every moment needs to be a huge event. A morning walk up Burleigh Headland with takeaway coffee or a late afternoon at Tallebudgera Creek is perfect for relaxing in between your adventures. A scavenger hunt through Surfers if the group is competitive. These stunning moments are often where your group bonds and the best conversations happen.
The Gold Coast practically photographs itself, but a few spots are worth building into your weekend if you’re looking to take some stunning group photos. We’re guessing the group has already started thinking about the gorgeous dresses and beachy outfits they’ll need to order with priority shipping.
So, of course, Burleigh Heads at sunrise is the obvious one, and it earns its place at the top for a reason. The coastal path gives you sweeping views back towards the Surfers skyline, with warm morning light shining on your favourite gals. Tallebudgera Creek sits just behind the headland, with calm turquoise water lined with palms that looks more Bali than Queensland. Oh, and don’t forget the legendary Surfers Paradise sign and beachfront at night, giving you neon lights and skyline views in the same shot.
It’s the perfect place to make a full hens weekend count. The Gold Coast is one of the few destinations where extending to a full weekend doesn't mean you have to fill every hour; you can adventure and relax as you please.
A two-day hens gives you and your group room to breathe and catch up. Saturday might look like a catamaran cruise through the Broadwater in the afternoon, dinner somewhere along Oracle Boulevard, and a delicious dinner by the waterside. Sunday can be slower with breakfast at a Burleigh cafe or a walk along the headland, maybe one last swim at Tallebudgera Creek before everyone heads home.
That pacing matters, and you are free to do exactly what your bride wants to do. Nobody remembers a hens party fondly because the schedule ran on time. It’s all about the beautiful moments celebrating your favourite girl on a trip of a lifetime.
The entire weekend can be a hassle to put together, but this is what we do, and what we love doing. While you chase dietary requirements, matching outfits and guest numbers, we endeavour to make everything else a little bit easier.

Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise are the two most popular bases. Broadbeach is slightly more upscale, with great restaurants and bars around Oracle Boulevard. Surfers Paradise has more nightlife options and the classic beachfront strip. Both keep you central, with plenty within walking distance.
The Gold Coast is lovely all year round, but the sweet spots are September, November and March. You can avoid the peak summer crowds and school holiday pricing, the weather is still warm enough for beach activities, and accommodation can be easier to book for larger groups.
Yes! A beach picnic, scavenger hunt and night out on the strip can make for a perfect day without blowing the budget. Just make sure you have a couple of activities locked in to give the day some structure, you don’t want everyone sitting around wondering what’s happening next.
Three to six months is the sweet spot for a weekend booking, especially if you want a specific boat cruise or workshop on a Saturday. If your bride has her heart set on a penthouse apartment for 30 people, it’s worth booking six to twelve months in advance. For a smaller itinerary or one-day experience, we normally recommend locking things in six to eight weeks in advance.
